Doug McCoy Traditional Archery.
This time we need to stretch out our back muscles in a different way. Hold your bow above your head, twist at the
waist to the right as far as is comfortable. Hold this for about 5 seconds then straighten back out. Now twist to the
left as far as you can once again holding for 5 seconds. When you have done this 4-5 times try twisting a bit farther
each time there after. In a few days of doing this you will find that your back muscles will start to stretch and
become more limber once again.
Now that the back is stretched lets see about those legs. If you are like me then my legs tend to get tired very easily
anymore. This exercise will help stretch and strengthen them over time.
Grasp yoor bow with a hand on either side of the riser.. Stand with your feet about shoulder width apart . Push the
bow out in front of you as if you are trying to give it away. Be careful not to lean at this point. While doing this pull
your right leg back behind you about a foot or so.. now still pushing hard start to bend your knees. You will notice
you are now dropping lower.... do this very slowly and when about half way down hold for a count of 5! Now slowly
raise yourself back up as move your leg back in to the starting position. repeat this but using the left leg now. After
time you can exaggerate the distance that your legs are placed behind you.
